Generally I can be found roaming somewhere in the world. I'm originally from Hungary, I grew up in Kuwait, I did my BA in the States, my MA in the UK, and now work in Hungary, but still return to Kuwait regularly :o)

Restaurant Recommendations Needed

It'll be my parents' 28th weddig anniversary in two weeks, and since we'll all be in Kuwait, my dad and I thought we should go out to a really nice restaurant and surprise my mom.
Apparantly there are new restaurants springing up in Kuwait every week, so we're not so up to date on the restaurant scene, especially not the really nice restaurant scene.
So if you have any recommendations, plese post it in a comment.
Anything except seafood :o)
Thanks

If your mom’s into Italian food and you’re thinking of somewhere fancy, then let me see, I’ll name all Italian restaurants I know, beginning with the best and fanciest:

- There’s Ricardo’s at the Sheraton Hotel, which I’d strongly recommend.
- If she prefers a quiet spot, try La Piazzia, and I’ve gone there so many times. It’s located directly across the Catholic Church.
- You’ll find like two other Italian restaurants there, Pomodoro and Casper & Gambinis.
- My old favourite is Nino’s located on the Gulf Road and it’s quite busy on weekends, but they’ve got tasty food, and I eat there all the time.
- Also Johnny Carinos, situated on the Gulf Road, been there once only.

There’s also Le Notre, if your mom loves French Cuisine, on Gulf Road.

Btw, my husband says Hi to you, Moonlight & Pebbles!

Some of these names do ring a bell, although I've only been to Johnny Carinos from this long list :o)

I haven't been to La Piazza in ages. I knew the chef there and when he left, I didn't bother to go back. The menu isn't that extensive, unless they've added to it since I was last there.

I like Square, which is in the same block of restaurants as La Piazza. They really do a nice job on food presentation and the atmosphere is great.

I also love Paul's but the atmosphere is casual.

There's a place at the Hilton - I think it's called Teatro or something. We took my father there and he liked it.

I don't get out much so my recommendations aren't the best probably. Good luck and happy anniversary to Um and Bu Sultana. :)
